Stylish Blogger

A big thank you to Cee from Coco and Vera for nominating me for stylish blogger! She is lovely and such a stylish girl that it really is an honour. You should definatly check her out :) I also started this blog thinking no one would read it and to get this, because someone likes it that much!! So amazing. Thank you to everyone who reads this, you're all wonderful!
**
So, this is how this works, you say 7 things about yourself and nominate 7 blogs you love :)
Okay so here goes it, 7 things you may or may not have known about me:
-
1. My middle name is Stevie, which was my grandma's nickname. My dad wanted it to be my first name but my mom didn't, I personally think I could have pulled off being a Stevie
2. My camera is worth much more than my car, which is how it should be, I think
3. I have a congenital heart defect called a "coarctation of the aorta", I didn't find out about it until about 8 months ago, we have tried to have it fixed twice over the past summer (both failed miserably) and I am now awaiting open heart surgery.
4. I can out burp any man. Cute huh?
5. I have two bunnies, who are fantastic. I've had one for 6 years and the other for 5, they are my children.
6. I have an 27 year old brother and a 16 year old brother. Growing up it was mostly me and a bunch of boys, which explains why I get along so well with boys. Oh and my older brother is an opera singer!
7. I worked at a hardware store for 3 years, and just quit this past may

Grump

Photobucket
Goodday!! These photos were from yesterday, it was an absolutly gorgeous day, it was +3 degrees celcius!! Yeah thats right we went from -25, to +3 overnight. Welcome to Alberta.
I was actually a serious grump yesterday, and almost didn't even go out to take these pictures, which would have been a waste of a lovely day. I got this skirt for 5 DOLLARS! Yeah, thats right, this beautiful silk skirt, marked down from 70. Now is that a deal or what? I actually bought it earlier this summer and hadn't worn it yet (I dont know why...I'm crazy?) Its such an amazing blue colour, so I thought I'd keep it classic and pair it with this super soft black top (which has sequins for a pocket, but I didn't get a great photo) and my favorite polka dot tights. It was finally warm enough for only one pair of tights! I tried to make things a little more casual with my short boots, which are covered in snow here. I would have loved to wear some sort of heel or bootie, but when my feet are cold, I am a horrendously cranky individual. Therefore comfy boots for me!

-
I was in the bathroom today and a girl asked me if I had a buisness presentation today, I didn't have the heart to say "No, I dress like this everyday" apparently high waisted skirt = buisness woman?
I just couldn't shake this grumpy shitty mood today though. Got a hot chocolate. Nothing. Listened to some christmas music. Nothing. Went to the gym. Nothing. But finally Bryce was able to make me feel better with a big bowl of popcorn, an episode of dexter, lots of cuddling and being cute (okay you can gag now). I'm pretty happy to be literally dating my best friend (we were friends for 5 years first)
Have an absolutly wonderful weekend!

Can't buy me love

Photobucket
So this was kind of a last minute outfit......I'm the type of person that likes to have her outfits planned a few days in advance (a) because in the morning I am a zombie who can't put clothes together (b) to ensure everything is clean!!
Well before I went to bed last night I looked at what I had "planned" to wear and realized I hated it. It was one of my old skirts from before my surgeries (-for a refresher)that no longer fits. I thought I could make it work, but it really is too large. I lost over 15 lbs after those surgeries (& I didn't have any weight to loose). Im obviously at a much healthier weight now though :)
*
This is what I ended up putting together to wear to school and I am really happy with it actually. This is one of my favorite sweaters, I always feel really feminine in it, it must be the soft pink colour. And I absolutly adore anything leopard print so this skirt is one of my favorites. I grabbed my white tshirt and belted this with my studded belt and voila! An outfit! I really like this outfit too, its comfortable and was warm. I love the pink cardigan with the studded belt, something about that just looks good to me. I love this outfit. This ring was one of my online purches from forever 21, I rarely wear gold jewellery but I couldn't say no to this! A leopard?! Amazing, and he happened to go quite nicely with my skirt.

I had to run inside to warm up while I was taking these pictures and I was only outfit for about 10 minutes in total!! I think I probably looked rather ridiculous running about, but then again I usually do when taking these photos.
Happy American Thanksgiving to all of you celebrating! And a happy thursday to all us poor folk not getting turkey tomorrow ;)

Hello Dolly

Photobucket

Good evening, I had a really long day with labs and working on my fashion test that I got you guys to do. We're analyzing it, removing questions that aren't well correlated, that are too similar etc, so we have a sound test. It's all very interesting and we worked on it for 3 hours today. I also picked my Secret Santa with my friends and am verrry excited to buy presents! I started my holiday shopping yesterday, but did not get much done yet. Have YOU started??

Since it was -35 with the windchill when I left for school today, bundling was definatly required. I am wearing two pairs of tights here, my pretty urban outfitters dress belted with my comfy beige cardigan. I didn't want to do all black accessories and I thought the beige looked good with this dress. I've got my sparkly black scarf wrapped tight around my neck. Another thick cardigan under my jacket and I'm good to go. Layering is evidently key to fighting this cold weather! Only a few more days until more reasonable temperatures! I can hang in there!!
I'm gunna put together a christmas wishlist sometime in the next week, thing's I want/like for my secret santa to snoop through haha. I think I shall have to compile a few christmas gift ideas for what to get others too! I am getting way to into christmas already, all I'm listening to is Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday...It's sooo good

Winterland

Greetings my dears from Winterland! The temperatures started off at a frosty -25 degrees celcius this morning but did eventually rise to a balmy -15. This is what we have to look forward to for the next ohhhh, about 4 months or so. Although I am sure we will have some weeks of -2 thrown in there, as well as some -40's just to make things interesting. One day last winter we were the second coldest place in the entire world. Huh. BUT it was soo pretty today, everything was frosty and I loved it, despite the chilly temperatures all I wanted to do was go outside and take pictures!
*
I wore this because I was giving a presentation with 2 other girls in my Clinical Psychology class about "Psuedocyesis" which is a Somatoform Disoder Not otherwise specified, in which the individual thinks they're pregnant and starts developing physical signs of pregnancy (lactation, abdominal growth, etc) but they are NOT pregnant. It's extremly rare and very interesting. I think it went well, everyone was interested in our topic and the prof said he learned a lot he didn't know! Always a good thing to hear.
*
Back to the outfit, this dress is the reason for my ordering things off the internet a few weeks ago, I had seen this dress on the F21 website but they did not have it on the Canadian website. When I finally saw it on the canadian site, I just had to buy it. I am in love with the print, the colours are so pretty and wonderful. They only had a medium (im usually a small) but I bought it still, and I am so glad I did! It's so comfortable and soft and warm. I've never owned a dress with 3/4 length sleeves and I must say I love it. I threw on my studded belt, and knew after all the snow I would have to wear my snowflake necklace (I refuse to wear it when theres no snow, feels like bad luck). I'm wearing like 3 pairs of socks under these boots and my thickest tights, so I was pretty toasty. Of course I did freeze my butt off taking these photos, but I am pleased with them so it makes it okay?
Anyways I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
xJennaD

Ohh I have more photos (of snow and the like) which I will post later, I'm also thinking of cropping and rearranging the photos so they're be two in one? Just side by side. However that would mean they'd be smaller, because they're already set at the largest they can be..... If that's not confusing to anyone, let me know what you think.

Holiday tea keeps me warm in between photos

I am indeed wearing too different mittens here...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

I really do apologize for looking a little angsty in these photos. It's not that I was mad, I was just cold, very cold.

Snoooooow!!! The temperature plummeted on monday night and by tuesday morning we were greeted with snowflakes, wind and a chilly -10 degrees celcius. Today was even better! -12, with the wind chill putting us closer to -17! These are more seasonal temperatures, and even though I miss the warmth quite badly, I am enjoying this change. The snow has thrown me head first into christmas mode, which means I am brain storming chirstmas presents, coming up with christmas outfits and listen to a lot of jazzy music (Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald mmmhmm). I don't mind winter and snow, I just hate cold. But I will tolerate it up until febuary then I get annoyed!
I am really looking forward to building snowmen, drinking hot chocolate, really thick warm sweaters and socks, toboganing!!
*

This is what I wore to school today, layers upon layers to keep my teeny bum warm while the wind gusted! I'm wearing a long sleeve sweater under this royal blue cardigan with one of my favorite skirts. High waisted, crazy print? Yes please. I'm wearing ridiculously thick warm tights and socks and boots. My body was happy for the bundling. I really love my black sparkly scarf I'm wearing in the last few photos too, I rescued it from my closet because I had completely forgotten about it! I bought it in my very first year of University (which seems a long time ago, hmm). And of course, I adore this jacket, having a good winter jacket you live in Edmonton is pretty important I think. I have a few.

*

I took these photos in under 10 mins and was still freezing by the time I came inside, so I warmed myself with a hot bowl of soup. I hope everyone appreciates that I froze my buttocks off. I really hate to take indoor photos though, the lighting in my home is absolutly abysmal.

xJenna D

You can see my bra....whoops, looks like this sweater is a tit..tad bit sheer. I was actually having a pretty good time despite the cold, frolicking about and taking these photos

This is my new addition to the area where I bog, a glitter covered skeleton. It's really cute, sometimes I find that I just can't say no to a little glitter. He's currently hanging out on the lampshade but that will probably change.

Inspiration

Jessica Stam in "after hours"
Uk Vogue November 2010
photographed by Lina Scheynius
I really adore the lighting and clothing in this photo shoot. I am going to buy the very soon, it looks like a really great issue (I always find the UK versions of Elle and Vogue UK vogue have especially spectacular fashion shoots)
First off, I think Jessica Stam is a beautiful model, always have. I really love the leopard print bustier with the sparkly skirt here:Favorite photo: The lighting and use of shadow I think is gorgeous here. I love the leopard print coat with the dress!! I want. The sparkly pants in the 3rd last photos are absolutly amazing, can you imagine owning anything like that?
I think I am going to need to pair something leopard print with something sparkly in the near future.
