Home sweet home & battle wounds round 4

Hello loves! I am finally home, I got released from the hospital yesterday and am so so happy to be home. It's really quite a lot easier to heal at home thats for sure. I have to sleep in my brothers room because I am not allowed to use stairs and have to be supervised haha, but my parents recently redid his room and bought him a huge comfy bed. Pretty happy about that!

I was supposed to go home on monday but on my way to get an echocardiagram I blacked out, my blood pressure fell ridiculously low and my vision went black and I couldn't hear. It was so scary!! I had never blacked out before, so obviously I thought I was dying. Which is funny now in hindesight. They figure I was just dehydrated because they plopped me back in bed, hooked me up to a ton of IV liquids (magnesium, potassium etc) and I felt much better. Every day I get a little bit stronger and stronger, which is good, the pain will subside less and less. I get to go on walks around the block and everyday they'll get a little longer and more frequent :)
I have I think 3 presurgery outfit posts that I can update with in the next week or so, I have missed everyone! But it will be a little while for new ones, I think. I'm just taking it easy! Thank you for all your wonderful words of encouragment by the way, you are all sooo great.

This ones kind of nice because it follows the line of a racerback tank top perfectly! It curves around just to my side before my breast starts. As you can see here my shoulder is quite swollen, which is normal

Piece of my heart

Photobucket
Hello lovelies, I am off to have my heart surgery bright and early today (be at the hospital by 530am) and I would like to thank you all for your support, it really means a lot. I will be missing you while I am in the hospital and won't be posting/commenting for 5-7 days while I am in recovery there. I'll try to see if bryce will post perhaps to give an update on how everything went. I will miss everyone and look forward to being fixed, healthy and back ready for action!
love, JennaD

Don't Let it Bring you Down

Photobucket

Hello dears, hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! I enjoyed mine. This may be my last outfit post before I have surgery Wednesday morning. I’m nervous, of course. But it’ll finally be over and I am looking forward to this. It’s been a long process and I feel like I’m finally prepared. Anyways on to a more positive note! This is my outfit from Friday, I went to work and then out for drinks with a large group of friends! I love them.

The top I’m wearing is actually I dress I got from a thrift store a few weeks ago. I don’t really like it in dress form, it’s clingy and doesn’t feel like my style. But as a top I adore it!! It’s got kind of an animal print/dot pattern on it and was only $3. I am very pleased with that! And I wore my favourite dotted skirt, the colour is so wonderful. I love this combination, the scooped back of the dress/shirt is great. I seem to be loving this kinds of backs lately. And these shoes quickly became my favourite, they only have an inch of heel, but the open toe and bow are so cute. And they have an amazing insole thats super comfortable when I'm on my feet all day long

I love the tribal print of this top, it's super loose which will make it great for post-op. But it's so comfy it was great for a lazy sunday too. Decided to bust out my red purse again!

Cowboys and printed skirts

Photobucket
Hello there. It’s been pissing rain here the past 3 days, and I am really rather unimpressed. I was really hoping it would be very nice for this last week before surgery; I had so many outfits planned for hot days. But this is one of the skirts I bought on my vintage extravaganza on Whyte ave Monday. For me there’s just something about a good print that always seems to catch my eye, no matter what. I think it’s like some sort addiction I think?

This print is cowboys! On horses! In the desert! As soon as I saw this print, I was pretty much in love. And the fit of it is really quite wonderful as well. It looks like its home made too, very sweet. I decided I didn’t want my top competing for attention with this skirts wonderful print. And since it was rainy and cold the day before yesterday I had to layer up. Luckily it stopped raining in the evening long enough for me to take these! Today seems like the rain might hold off long enough to take pictures. I have a few outfits so far saved up for post surgery.

Strip the Soul

Photobucket

Hello my dears, how are you all today? I am in a pretty good mood, my day off Monday was lovely, it was nice out and I spent the whole day with friends, eating delicious food. My best friend Nakael and I went for spicy Vietnamese food, wandered around whyte ave, we hit up some vintage shops and I found some wonderful pieces and then we sat on a patio drinking margaritas. It was sunny out and not too hot, so perfect. Then in the evening two of my closest friends and I went out to the cactus club for some tasty eats. I hadn’t been out with them in too long!
This is what I decided to wear through my action packed day of good friends and food. This is one of my favourite dresses, it’s got the perfect print, fit, and the zip up front makes me happy. I loved the floral print and my leopard print belt, and of course my bright green bag. And bright orange nails! Perfect dress for the weather and day, I didn’t want to wear something too fussy, and wearing something I love always feels great.

I’m having some wacky hair days lately, it won’t go completely straight, isn’t curling on its own anymore, and it’s faded to a weird colour. But no time for haircut or colour because my surgery is now on June 22nd, they called me yesterday and bumped it up a day!

Catch the Sparks

Photobucket

Hello all! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Today is my sunday, so I'm going to go have lunch with a friend and do some errands. I think we're going to go get some tasty, spicy pho and then enjoy the sunshine. It's supposed to be about 23 or 24 degrees today, I am excited, yay!!
This is my outfit for work on friday, I am wearing one of my dresses as a top. I love the scooped back of the dress, and the black pocket. I am wearing one of my favourite skirts, I think a dress or skirt becomes a favourite of mine especially if it has pockets! There's some sort of comfort for me to that. I love the green, black and stripes together, I like that combination. This was a great look for the warm weather and for work.

I went for a nice long walk on this morning, walked to sbucks, got some groceries and came home to hang out in the yard and then make dinner before work. Friday was a really gorgeous day!

Among the Wildflowers

Photobucket
Out of any vintage/thrift purchase I’ve ever made this skirt has to be one of my favourites. After lunch a few months ago my friend and I went to one of the thrift stores in town and I picked up a few things then right before we left I spotted this. It was a really long awkward length and my friend said it was hideous but there was something about it, I saw that we could have a future together! So I took it home (for all of $5) and hemmed it, (without a machine ><) and viola we have one of my favourite skirts.

I decided to pair it with this top that I got a few weeks back, I love the little studs on the sleeves, a nice little detail to add interest to a plain black t-shirt. I am actually wearing all my favourite thrift items, my ship pendant, alligator belt, and this skirt. I had to work a split shift this day, so not fun at all. But it gave me a great opportunity to hang out in the yard and take these pictures! My mum spread a bunch of seed for these little blue flowers all over this spot in our yard and I love the way it looks, it’s kind of funny with the dandelions spread throughout.

Better in theory

Photobucket

So ever have one of those outfits that seemed better in theory and in your head than they turned out in real life? This would be one of those. It seemed like a great idea. A super feminine gorgeous lace skirt, my denim top knotted over it to add a bit of masculinity. But somehow it just didn’t feel quite right? I wore it all day anyways, just to feel it out see if it felt better as the day went on. I initially wanted to pair it with my gingham top but it’s my first instinct every time, I love it. I think it may have been a combination between a bad hair day and not enough sleep. Oh well! I guess not every outfit can be something you absolutely love. But this skirt is really wonderful, I love the way it moves and the way it feels.

Perhaps I just had a really long day and needed a good rest to be able to function fashionably? Also I feel like I should be making every outfit “count” and try to wear every piece in my wardrobe before I have surgery, because for quite a few weeks I’m going to be living in loose fitting clothes and pyjamas. What a waste of beautiful summer dresses! Hopefully I will make a throrough runthrough of my whole wardrobe before then. Maybe take a lot of photos to have on backup for the month of recovery.
